Evaluation

My magazine was inspired by the huge music magazine honey mag. I had to do a lot of research like, for example how does a honey mag DPS look like? What I think went well was my overall layout it looked like a real double page spread the images looked like the pictures and the overall colour scheme. My colour scheme went with my genre which is urban/hip hop. I used vibrant yet simple colour scheme which is similar to honey magazine. the magazine is aimed at young working class women who have an interest in urban and hip hop even though the magazine is  vibrant it is still mature you can tell the magazine is for people you really take music seriously. What could have gone better would be my journalist writing it could have been a bit more accurate and less formal.

The programme I used was InDesign. To be able to import the images on to the sheet on InDesign I had to click on file and click on import because I saved the image first all I had to do was import it, I then had to press down on "T" and shift and drag the corner of the image to enlarge it and make it look neat. As you can see from the bottom the columns look the same that is because I used the rulers at the left side and the top to measure the length and width of the columns I mimicked this from honey mag because they measure their columns too.

I kept the masthead and the pull quote very simple and easy to read I also wanted to capture the audience with my pull quote by using a statistic by saying 7.7million people download music illegally it would capture the audience’s attention and they would want to read on because most people would be shocked as they may be part of the statistic as people don't consider music piracy as illegally. when I chose my image for my DPS I thought carefully about what artist would best Reflects my genre and my target audience Nicki Minaj best suited this she is a young female from an ethnic background she is also a hip hop/rap artist. She also appeared in honey magazine which has the same audience as my magazine.

If I had a chance to redo the magazine I think that I would redo the article and make it so it appeals to my target audience young females I would have read an article from honey magazine to see what kind of articles they put in of I was happy with the overall layout however I wish that had experimented more but I kept it simple.
