XXL-DPS

I will be analysing XXLs DPS the image on the left takes up the whole page showing 50cents and Souja boys importance they are both dressed in a stereotypical gangster hip hop way which appeals to the genre of the magazine Souja boy has his trousers low which is known as low backs this is seen as fashion amongst Young males therefore it appeals to the target audience of African American young males the are also both wearing chains around their neck which is also seem as fashion. They are both posing in very masculine ways 50cent has his hands in his pockets with a stern facial expression Souja boy less serious but still stern. The pull quote uses language to suit the target audience for example ni**gs,f**k this appeals to the target audience of African American young males who like rap/hip hop swearing also they would all be in testing in rap beef who fighting or arguing with who they like to know the latest gossip of their favourite artists  is typically uses and conversational words such as the n word is seen as acceptable because if more formal language was used it would not appeal to them as they do not Find it very interesting. Twitter is also mentioned because most young people nowadays have social networking websites. The image links to the quote because 50cent tells people to leave souja boy alone so the fact that he is standing behind souja boy looking angry and protective relates to the text. Again a dark masculine colour scheme used dull colours like black and grey however this does make the writing also easier to read. This how xxl usually layout there dps there is usually a pull quote above the text and the image on the left usually takes up a whole page.

  1. DPS: You are strong again on layout, image and genre. You do not analyse the journalistic language, style or structure used.
Contents page (could not post comment on previous post): This is quite a strong analysis of the contents page and you understand genre, layout, and image. You could be clearer on the rather unusual way that XXL organises content, into categories (or not). VC
