VIBE MAGAZINE FRONT COVER

The music magazine I will be analysing is vibe magazine I will be analysing the front cover Vibe magazine is a monthly RnB music magazine aimed at young urban followers of hip hop culture. It is very well known for its creative front covers some of the artists that have appeared are on vibe are Keyshia Cole,Beyoncé,brandy, trey songz etc.these artists are very well known in hip hop culture The masthead is very vibrant bright yellow it's easy to read against the pink background Even though jhene aikos  head is blocking part of it. We can still make out what it says because it very well known so we can easily guess it. The close-up up of her face allows us to tell her facial expressions what she is thinking or feeling from this shot she is looking seductively into the camera she is wearing dark make up she also looks very mysterious and we want to find out more about her .The colours yellow and pink on the magazine of the fits the genre of urban / hip theme of young and vibrant. Pink has connotations of nurturing and unconditional love this links to jhene aiko as she makes very soulful music. The colour yellow has connotations of happiness upbeat she also makes upbeat dance songs. The colours clearly reflect the artist .the layout is neat and tidy the cover lines are placed around the image making sure it does not obstruct her face in any way, the yellow and white font is also red able against the pink background making it stand out the cover also appeals to the target audience of young urban followers of hip hop culture for example Jhene aiko is cooler than you girl informal language is used but also it makes reader want to find out why is she cool as they may aspires be like her.

  2. This is much improved. Still you could apply more technical media language and think more carefully about how the conventions are followed. VC
